About the Journal

IEEE Latin America Transactions is a monthly edited Journal focused on the dissemination of quality research papers and review articles (Reviews) written in Spanish or Portuguese in three main areas: Computing,  (Electric) Energy and Electronics,  papers reporting emerging topics or solving problems of Latin America are preferred. Some of the sub-areas of the journal are, but not limited to: control of systems, communications, instrumentation, artificial intelligence, power and industrial electronics, diagnosis and detection of faults,  transportation electrification, internet of things, electrical machines, microwaves, circuits, and systems, biomedicine and biomedical/haptic applications, secure communications, robotics, sensors and actuators, industrial systems, renewable energy (electric), computer networks, smart grids, among others.


For a paper to be eligible for the Journal, substantial contribution with respect to previous work must be demonstrated. Moreover,  papers contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for Latin America are strongly preferred, such motivation should be included in the letter to the editor. Now the page limit for a manuscript is increased


IEEE Latin America Trans has now increased the maximum number of pages allowed for an article.  You now may choose to exceed the page limit by paying overlength page charges since May 1st, 2021. If you choose to exceed the page limit, you will receive an invoice before the article's publication.

As stated now in  Section "Instructions for authors", the initial page submission is 9 pages and the maximum number of pages after revisions is 10 pages for a research article. Articles exceeding 7 pages are considered overlength and must pay a unique overlength page fee of US$250 upon acceptance, since May 1st, 2021.  

In this case, along with the acceptance of the paper, you will receive an email requesting your payment via PayPal. No other payment options are currently available.
