Applying Text Tining To Identify Photovoltaic Technologies

Growing concern about the environmental impacts caused by population growth coupled with increased industrial activity around the world has prompted several countries to create policies to encourage clean energy production. Thus, technologies for generating energy through fossil fuels have been increasingly replaced. In this scenario, environmentally friendly innovations have gained space, one of the branches of renewable energy is solar energy that, through photovoltaic panels, converts the irradiation into electricity or heat. Therefore, the objective of this work is to present a patent analysis, performed with the aid of text mining, through an algorithm developed for this purpose, using the R language, to identify the stage of technological development of photovoltaic panels. A total of 889 documents were consulted between the years 2007 and 2016 in North American, European and Japanese offices. Innovations were identified in various areas of knowledge, hybrid technologies (panels that generate electricity and heat), manufacturing methods, quick assembly, and self-cleaning systems are among them. As a result, panels tend to be increasingly economically viable, expanding the clean energy generation sector.
