Abstract

Proactive routing protocols are commonly used in wireless sensor networks due to their main feature is distributing information very quickly. However, most of the implementations using these protocols do not guarantee the robustness that unexpected emergencies required. In this paper, it tries to model a wireless sensor network implemented in a three-floor's building, robust enough to assure the working of the net despite of the loss of nodes in emergency situations. The performance of DSDV (Destination Sequenced Distance Vector) and OLSR (On Link State Routing) is simulated in various scenarios using a different number of nodes in the building. The results show that the OLSR protocol can achieve a better performance in terms of robustness in the proposed scenarios.
