Abstract

This paper describes a novel approach to damp electromechanical oscillation with sliding mode control in power system stabilizers (PSS) located by the residue method, and appropriately parametrize through the Fuzzy logic. The power system oscillations by modal analysis are by performing the state-space representation of the matrices to get by DIgSILENT of PowerFactory® and adequate processed in MATLAB® to find the residue of the oscillation modes with which it is possible to decide the tuning and place of the stabilizers power modes in which a sliding mode control is including across the voltage regulators. The proposed control of electromechanical oscillation is evaluated by performing several simulations on the 39 Bus New England power systems in modes inter-area and local are analyzed. A comparison is made between the participation factors and the residue method for the location of PSS to assess the control robustness and performance.
