Fragment: A Web Application for Database Fragmentation, Allocation and Replication over a Cloud Environment

Abstract

The fragmentation, assignment and replication of databases are techniques to improve the performance of operations and reduce their cost in distributed environments. This article shows an analysis of different works focused on the topics of interest, in addition a Web application that adopts the technique used in a previous work is presented. This application analyzes the operations performed on a database on any table, proposes by means of the selected technique fragmentation schemes based on the most expensive attributes and performs the operations of assignment and replication of some chosen scheme on a distributed environment in the cloud. To validate the application of the technique a second Web application is presented, dedicated to simulate operations on sites and focused on producing a load file for the main application.
