Abstract

This article proposes a methodology to evaluate the impacts of integrating electric vehicle charging stations into real distribution networks, combining urban mobility simulation in Eclipse SUMO and electrical modeling in OpenDSS. Charging demand is represented by probabilistic models, with Monte Carlo simulations, allowing for the estimation of load profiles and the identification of critical scenarios. An iterative criterion for optimal sizing of fast charging stations based on occupancy rate is also proposed, balancing technical performance and economic viability. The results show that the system supports initial levels of electrification, but high penetration rates cause voltage drops in the low-voltage network, transformer overload, and increased losses, especially during peak hours.
