Abstract

The objective of this paper is to analyze the mediating effect of the absorptive capacity (AC) on the relationship between information technology capabilities (ITC) and innovative performance (IP). The hypothesis model was contrasted in a sample of manufacturing and service companies located in an emerging country that occupies an intermediate position in terms of availability and use of IT, for which we used structural equations using the consistent least squares method. Regarding the results, we found that there is a partial AC mediation in the relationship between ITC and IP. In conclusion, in order for ITCs to be able to influence innovation results, it is necessary to articulate them with soft organizational skills such as AC.
