Abstract

The present research work consisted in the development of an electronic prototype capable of collecting information of the maize crop field. Specifically, this electronic device is able of record relative humidity, ambient temperature and geographic coordinates; such as latitude and longitude. This, through a communication protocol established via Bluetooth using a smartphone with Android as operating system to receive and save information. The use of the proposed electronic prototype allows the farmer to obtain accurate and georeferenced information of interest points in its crop field for further decisions. Finally, the combination of in-situ data obtained by the electronic prototype with LandSat 8 satellite imagery with spatial resolution of 30 meters allow the determination and creation of a yield map based on remote sensing techniques using vegetation indices such as NDVI, WDRVI and CVI with the aim of contribute to the farmer decisions in future maize planting seasons.
