Abstract

This paper presents the polyphase doubly salient stationary permanent magnets motors with no magnetic flux reversal in the stator core as well as splittable stator core. Due to its high power and torque densities as well as efficiency gains due to losses reduction in the iron and in the drive through unipolar converters, this motor becomes an attractive option for several applications including electric traction. In addition, it is a rugged brushless machine without windings or bars in rotor and permanent magnets housed in the stator reducing the risk of demagnetization by temperature. The strategy for the non-reversal of the magnetic flux in the stator core and its partition is explained and performance comparisons with same dimensions switched reluctance motors (SRM) are carried out through simulations and the results evaluated, observing better results for the doubly salient permanent magnets machine.
