This paper presents the evaluation of the parameters of a surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous generator designed for wind generation in urban areas, and manufactured in a ring shaped around the turbine with modular stator. The generator is designed to operate without speed control, producing variable frequencies, thus to connect to the grid is used an AC/AC converter that keeps the output frequency constant. Due to the rotor diameter and the rotational speed, the high pole number increase considerably the inductance reactive. In the project, the relation of the inductances with the number of slot per pole pair is compared. The inductances are obtained by analytical subdomain method and finite element analysis, both in two dimensions. The analytic and numeric results indicate a reduction of inductances with increases of slots per winding phase. The experimental measurement allows identify the leakage inductance that, due to the unconventional dimension proportions, is approximately 30% of total.
