Abstract

Specific Wireless body area networks (WBAN) requirements, such as energy efficiency, antennas close to the skin and reliable packet delivery, has motivated new research into the development of new solutions for these networks. This work proposes a cross-layer approach based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard to improve WBAN communication reliability. The performance is compared to the original standard and results suggest that our protocol outperforms when interference is the cause of packet delivery failures.
